Shairik Sengupta has a varied academic background. He pursued BSc in chemistry from St. Xavier’s college, Kolkata and did his project on opinion dynamics. He always wanted to work for the environment, so he did his MSc in Environmental Science at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where worked on particulate matter in air pollution, and water purification using biochar and pollution detection using low-cost sensors.
Currently, he is a Ph.D. student in the Interdisciplinary Center for Water Research (ICWaR), working on modeling glaciated river basins. He occasionally works as a teacher for organizations and individuals. He is an activist and believes that the environmental problem can only be solved with research and political action. He is also an actor, violinist, and occasional photographer, and is always ready for traveling.
